Assalamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,TrueDay.
Welcome back,While many reflect on the balance between faith and science in today’s rapidly evolving world, we dive into two fascinating conversations. First, how Islam and modern medicine walk hand in hand to guide us through health challenges. Then, a cosmic journey revealing how the Qur’an’s timeless wisdom aligns strikingly with modern discoveries about the universe’s creation.
Today: Medicine, faith, and healing in the modern age — plus a glimpse into the universe through the lens of the Qur’an.
Medicine, Faith & Health in Modern Times
When illness strikes, should we rely solely on Allah’s mercy, or also seek modern medical treatment? In today’s fast-changing world, this question becomes even more relevant — as new health challenges emerge daily. The truth? There’s no conflict between faith and medicine. Instead, they beautifully complement one another.
Reflection:
Many mistakenly believe tawakkul means doing nothing and leaving everything to Allah. Yet, the Prophet ﷺ himself sought treatment when ill, encouraging his companions to do the same. True tawakkul is taking every possible step, then trusting Allah’s wisdom for the outcome.
Islamic teachings have long emphasized cleanliness, balance, and prevention — even before modern medicine uncovered their importance. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Cleanliness is half of faith.” This links spiritual purity deeply with physical well-being.
Islamic Insight:
Medical treatment in Islam can be divided into two categories:
Tibb-e-Nabawi: Remedies and treatments inspired by the Prophet ﷺ’s life and guidance.
Tibb-e-Ghair Nabawi: Modern or other conventional medical methods.
Islam supports both approaches, provided they align with Shari’ah principles.
From dietary laws promoting halal, wholesome food eaten in moderation, to daily hygiene practices like wudu and bathing, and even mental health practices such as patience and prayer — Islam offers timeless health guidance. The Prophet ﷺ’s use of quarantine during plagues shows an early understanding of infection control, aligning with today’s public health practices.
Connection:
Taking medicine is not a sign of weak faith; rather, it’s part of true faith. Just as we pray for healing, we also take steps toward recovery. Islam encourages active protection of ourselves and others while trusting in Allah’s plan.
Takeaway:
Seeking treatment and following health guidelines is an act of tawakkul — utilizing the means Allah has provided while trusting Him for the cure. Faith and science don’t merely coexist — they walk hand in hand.
Closing Note:
The best healing happens when medicine meets trust in Allah — caring for both body and soul. By combining divine guidance with modern knowledge, we can safeguard our well-being physically, mentally, and spiritually — ready to face the health challenges of our time.
The Universe & Qur’anic Astronomy
Have you ever wondered — when scientists talk about the creation of the universe, does it feel like it contradicts religion?
We often think science and religion stand on opposite sides. But the truth is, there’s a deep and fascinating connection between them.
Reflection:
One of modern science’s greatest discoveries is the Big Bang Theory — the idea that the universe began as a single, compact point, which then exploded in a massive expansion, giving birth to stars, planets, galaxies… and us.
Islamic Insight:
Over 1,400 years ago, the Qur’an revealed an ayah that strikingly aligns with this scientific discovery:
“Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were joined together, then We split them apart?”
(Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:30)
Connection:
Is this just a coincidence — or proof that true knowledge never stands in opposition? The Qur’an hinted at a truth that modern science has only recently uncovered.
Takeaway:
Science and religion are not rivals — they are allies. Islam is not just a source of spirituality, but also an endless reservoir of knowledge.
Closing Note:
Perhaps it’s time to build a bridge between science and the Qur’an — where curiosity and faith walk hand in hand.
Stay curious. Stay inspired. Stay Superhuman.
