Part 1: Tawhid and the Sovereignty of Allah

Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 255 (Ayatul Kursi)

Arabic:

اللَّهُلَاإِلَٰهَإِلَّاهُوَالْحَيُّالْقَيُّومُۚلَاتَأْخُذُهُسِنَةٌوَلَانَوْمٌۚلَّهُمَافِيالسَّمَاوَاتِوَمَافِيالْأَرْضِۗمَنذَاالَّذِييَشْفَعُعِندَهُإِلَّابِإِذْنِهِۚيَعْلَمُمَابَيْنَأَيْدِيهِمْوَمَاخَلْفَهُمْۖوَلَايُحِيطُونَبِشَيْءٍمِّنْعِلْمِهِإِلَّابِمَاشَاءَۚوَسِعَكُرْسِيُّهُالسَّمَاوَاتِوَالْأَرْضَۖوَلَايَئُودُهُحِفْظُهُمَاۚوَهُوَالْعَلِيُّالْعَظِيمُ

English Translation: "Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great."

Explanation: This is the most prestigious verse in the Quran, known as 'Ayatul Kursi.' It provides a comprehensive description of Allah's unique existence, attributes, and sovereignty. It teaches us that Allah is the only one worthy of worship. He is eternal, the director of all things, and His power is limitless. Nothing is outside of His knowledge. Reciting this verse protects one from the whispers of Shaytan (Satan) and brings one under the protection of Allah.

Surah An-Nisa, Verse 87

Arabic:

اللَّهُلَاإِلَٰهَإِلَّاهُوَۚلَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْإِلَىٰيَوْمِالْقِيَامَةِلَارَيْبَفِيهِۗوَمَنْأَصْدَقُمِنَاللَّهِحَدِيثًا

English Translation: "Allah - there is no deity except Him. He will surely assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. And who is more truthful than Allah in statement?"

Explanation: This verse is another crucial declaration of Tawhid (the oneness of Allah). It firmly establishes that there is no deity except Allah. The second part emphasizes the inevitability of the Day of Resurrection. It reminds us that one day, we will all be gathered before Allah for accountability. Allah is the most truthful in His promises, so the Day of Judgment will surely come to pass.

Part 2: Allah's Creation and Blessings

Surah Ar-Ra'd, Verse 2

Arabic:

اللَّهُالَّذِيرَفَعَالسَّمَاوَاتِبِغَيْرِعَمَدٍتَرَوْنَهَاۖثُمَّاسْتَوَىٰعَلَىالْعَرْشِۖوَسَخَّرَالشَّمْسَوَالْقَمَرَۖكُلٌّيَجْرِيلِأَجَلٍمُّسَمًّىۚيُدَبِّرُالْأَمْرَيُفَصِّلُالْآيَاتِلَعَلَّكُمبِلِقَاءِرَبِّكُمْتُوقِنُونَ

English Translation: "Allah is the one who raised the heavens without pillars that you can see, then established Himself on the Throne and made the sun and the moon subject to His command. Each of them runs for a specified term. He arranges [all] affairs, elaborating the signs so that you may be certain of meeting your Lord."

Explanation: This verse demonstrates Allah's power of creation. The vast sky we see stands without any visible pillars, which is a clear sign of His infinite power. The disciplined movement of the sun and the moon for a specific period of time proves that a supreme being is controlling this universe. This verse encourages us to contemplate the order of the universe, which strengthens our belief in the existence of Allah.

Surah Ibrahim, Verses 32-34

English Translation: "32. Allah is the one who created the heavens and the earth and sent down rain from the sky, and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. And He subjected for you the ships to sail through the sea by His command, and He subjected for you the rivers. 33. And He subjected for you the sun and the moon, constant in their courses, and He subjected for you the night and the day. 34. And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful."

Explanation: These verses remind us of Allah's countless blessings. Allah has subdued the heavens, the earth, rain, fruits, rivers, ships, the sun, the moon, night, and day for our benefit. All of these are meant to make our lives easier and more beautiful. These blessings are so numerous that we cannot count them. The final verse warns us that despite receiving so many favors, human beings are often ungrateful and transgress their limits. This teaches us to be grateful to Allah and to use His blessings correctly.
